Tai Chi Sparring

Tai Chi sparring is in reality one of the most significant stages of this traditional martial art. As spotted in most resources, Tai Chi sparring is strongly considered as the most effective way to teach scholars of the art the significance of self defense, distance and speed. Several folks, particularly in the West, will be quite shocked that Tai Chi Chuan can be effectively used for fighting. Essentially the term "Tai Chi Chuan" means "cosmos martial art".

If you don’t know the martial dimension of Tai Chi Chuan, you would have missed the essence of this glorious art, and would most likely have practiced it as a dance.

A Tai Chi Chuan ( taijiguan ) or Taiji, is often interpreted as Ultimate Final Fist and is understood across the world as a Chinese martial art that mixes the rules of self defense with the psychological and physical fitness. This art is practiced by millions of men and woman today for many purposes, including self defense and for its health benefits. Sparring is concerned in basic Tai Chi practice. According to its proponents, the slow and continuous movements are often engineered to impart the strong physical talents of the sparer, and to excite the flow of energy in the body. This slow, meditative pace concerned in Tai Chi sparring also helps to develop balance, coordination of breath and movement, concentration and relaxation. Simply, Tai Chi sparring teaches you the way to move simply without tension in order that your mind and body can function smoothly. I believe this a great health benefit.

There are 3 major levels of coaching concerned in Tai Chi sparring. The 1st has something to do with postures, the second with self defense applications, and the 3rd with coordination of breath with movement. In the opinion of some Tai Chi sparring pros, it is thru the mastery of the right postures the student can develop a comprehension of the character of flexible strength. This level requires long and diligent practice to defeat.

A higher level of Tai Chi sparring involves understanding of the energetic and self defense applications. This concept maybe flowered from the proven fact that when practicing Tai Chi sparring, you are relaxing and energizing your body.

How does Tai Chi do this?

First, Tai Chi sparring gets rid of the impurities due to tension, and then it wakes energy to flow thru the body. It is this flow of energy that really cleans the whole body.
Self defense applications, Tai Chi sparring simply teaches you to appreciate each move concerned in the practice.

The rule here is that each move can be done at 3 levels, which is high, middle and low. Except for these levels, the movements may also be performed in 5 directions, concerning left, right, back, forward and center. For plenty of Tai Chi practitioners, it is really imperative that every sparer understand these applications in order to keep movements accurate.

Finally, Tai Chi sparring involves coordination of the breath and the movements.
What’s sometimes considered in coaching is that you breathe with movements that lift or roll back, and in turn exhale with movements that press or sink. However, it is crucial to notice that in Tai Chi not every move will need a full breath.

Even if you’re most important intention of practicing Tai Chi Chuan is for health reasons, you will miss out on the best health advantages of Tai Chi Chuan if you don’t practice it as a martial art. If you train yourself to become an aspiring fighter whereby these health features are necessary, and you can never be bored with the challenging routines of Tai Chi sparring as no two sessions are exactly alike.

The Tai Chi Ruler, usefull unique method of cultivating the internal energy. It provides meditative purposes, and serves as a targeting device of your natural coordination and balance, by integrating mind and body. The Tai Chi Ruler is a peaceful yet strong holistic exercise.

T’ai Chi ruler imparts holistic fitness and integral strength, and a brilliant foundation for t’ai chi ch’uan or any martial art practice. Tai Chi Ruler is an ancient system of Taoist exercise known as chi-kung ( energy cultivation ) which uses a specifically carved symmetrical wooden artifact called the Tai Chi Ruler. Rounded at the ends and center, the design springs from the form of traditional Chinese Epee Handles. The small wooden dowl provides an exercise regimen that can be easily learned, and only requires a small space to perform the exercises. The T’ai Chi ruler is recommended for anyone who suffers from chronic condtions such as body stiffness, arthritis, chronic fatigue, lupus, and others as a complementry alterantive treatment. It works on back, wrist, arms, forearms

The Ruler is a type of qigong used to nourish and fortify the qi. The Bang ( Stick ) is heavy while the Ruler is light.

"Qi comes quickly" with the Ruler practice, implying that the practitioner feels the qi simply when holding the Ruler in both palms.

Both ends of the Ruler are round in shape and fit nicely in the centre of the palms.

The Ruler coaching is flexible, in the way that you can practise the movements individually or do them as a set. This practice gives you a good grounding which lets you reach higher levels in qigong. It’s a synthesis of all the ingredients which are required for development at higher levels. And, naturally, with the smooth circulation of blood and qi, good health is in the palms of your hands.

The art contains 8 sets of exercises done in repetition with deep, slow respiring and the ruler held between the palms. Each exercise coordinates breath, psychological and visible concentration with a basic t’ai chi physical pattern.

Hold the ruler so that it is in a vertical position whilst your arms are like welcoming a balloon.

Push the ruler in so that it is near your chest and out again. At the same time your wrists must revolve as if you are wringing the ruler. Hold the ruler horizontally out front of your chest with your palms facing your chest. Next, using your waist, turn left but using your right hand to bump your right end of ruler down ( at about that point, the right end of the ruler moves toward your body ) whilst your left hand will attempt to resist the movement. After that, turn back to face the front to the beginning position.
